Lewis County has issued an “Approved Exemption from Shoreline Management Act Requirement for Substantial Development Permit”.

This is the bureaucrats’ way of saying its OK to start installing a new intake screen for our Steelhead Acclimation Pond on Hall Creek, one mile West of Packwood. Tacoma Light & Power is funding this effort which includes new pumps & new piping. Some planning may need some re-doing since the Creek has been seen to get too low for the new floating intake design. At any rate Tacoma is updating our pond as part of the mitigation requirements of the re-licensing of the power station at Mossy Rock Dam. The pond will be ready for Steelhead at the February 2009 stocking period.
