Sign-up for the next Hunter Education class will be at:

Bob’s Sporting Goods Longview, WA
Upstairs at the Housewares annex bldg.
Friday – March 13th 5:00pm

Class limited to 1st 50 to sign up. 15 minutes early arrival is recommended.

This will be a paradigm class. i.e., students receive the Hunter Ed handbook at the sign-up. The course is free. However, each family must deposit a $20 bill at sign-up.

Students read the entire book and MUST answer all questions on all chapters at the back of the book. There are no classes to attend. Students then go back to Bob’s upstairs room and take the Hunter Ed test on Friday – March 27 5:00pm. During the test the handbooks will be examined by instructors to see that all questions are answered. Lack of such answers is grounds for course failure.

Those that past the test will be given a 1.5 hour series of gun handling instructions and other related safety inputs. Class usually dismisses at 8:30 to 9:00pm.

On Saturday – March 28, those that passed the written test meet at the Lone Oak rifle range. They will shoot a .223 on the 100 yd range and go through a trail in the woods where they will demonstrate abilities to safely handle a gun in a Duck boat, climbing over logs, through fences, etc. You are advised to bring your own gun (or bow) to use on the trail. If you don’t have one, a gun will be supplied. Wear boots & rain gear.

Muzzle control is the overwhelming point being emphasized, Point the gun at somebody and you will have flunked the course.

On completion of the shooting range exercise you will be refunded the $20 deposit.

If any of the classes are missed the deposit is forfeited to the Hunter Education fund.
