Saturday 25th Fishing Kids – Lake Sacajawea.

by Cowlitz Game & Anglers ~ April 23rd, 2009. Filed under: Community, Volunteer.

Saturday is the Fishing Kids annual event at Lake Sacajawea.

Normally about 500 from ages 4 to 12 get involved. For a $5.00 entry fee each kid gets a T-shirt, a spinning reel & rod to take home plus opportunity to catch 2 trout from the heavily stocked net full of Rainbows from WDF&W hatcheries. If you have any kids or grand kids there still may be time to sign them up.

CG&A always supports this great event with a large contingent of volunteers to help get all the rods rigged, bait hooks, help the kids cast, land the fish, and clean the fish.

Due to out-of-sync meeting dates we now only have 7 volunteers. We need 15.

Everybody needs to show up at the dock at 7:30AM. You will be given an orange vest for the day and sometimes a hat will be donated to you.

The event lasts until 3:15PM.
If you can’t arrive until later …OK
If you need to leave earlier ….OK

Try to wear some sort of eye protection since there indeed are quite a few hooks flying around.

Bring a knife so you can spend some time at the fish cleaning table (Mike Medack in charge) and wear a rag at your belt to wipe off hands.

A pair of pliers & pocket knife always seem to come in handy.

Fish on,
Dick
