Cowlitz Game & Anglers has requested a Special Land Use Permit to allow the Development of a Public Shooting Range on the LT-1 dredge spoils at the end of Toutle Park Rd located ½ mile East of the I-5 Exit 52.
A hearing upon this request is scheduled for Thursday, 14 May at 1:00PM in the County Commissioner’s Hearing Room in the County Administration Building
The Range will include facilities for pistol, rifle, black powder and archery on an 80 acre lease of County owned land.
The Range is designed to be of benefit to the approximately 20,000 gun owners and archery enthusiasts of Cowlitz County.
The hearing will be by an outside examiner under contract to Cowlitz County.
The public is invited to give testimony for or against approval of this permit.
This open meeting is expected to be attended by many of those interested in the Range being approved. Those that appose the Range development will be given ample time to state their concerns.
The Cowlitz County Building & Planning Department has recommended the permit be approved with a number of operational provisos to insure complete safety and neighborhood compatibility.
