Range Update 9/6/11
by Cowlitz Game & Anglers ~ September 15th, 2011. Filed under: Range Development. Thanks for your interest in the Cowlitz Public Shooting Range
We were required to obtain a vote from the County Commissioners that they would provide financial support to the requirement for detoxification (lead removal) of the range should we ever stop shooting. This is a $250,000 commitment which wasn’t finalized by the County until June. The concept had been unofficially approved last November but we couldn’t commit any financial expenditures while the legal issue were in jeopardy. During that period all engineering work and fund raising stopped.
NOW, we are forging ahead. The new schedule says we will be shooting in February 2012. We expect to submit applications for final building permits by the end of September. Architect plans are complete. Grading plans are complete.
We just received a $25,000 grant from the NRA which is a real boost. We now have raised $240,000! However, due to increased prices in diesel fuel, D-8 drivers and materials we now need about $55,000 to match our most recent forecast cost of building the range.
We are seeking shooters to send in checks now and not wait until the range opens because the cash is needed now not next February.
Season Pass $70.00 $60.00 if received prior to October
Name on Honored donors wall in perpetuity $100.00
Life Pass $500.00 fifteen left at this price, then — $1,000.00
$5,000.00 two life passes plus name on benefactor trophy
$10,000.00 Two life passes and a range named after the donor i,e.; Jim Jones’ Pistol Range
Benefits for In-Memoriam donations fall to the donor.

This is awesome! I have a 12 year old son who has shooting and archery in his blood, and we need something like this in our area. Please keep us on your email list to keep us aprised of your progress.

Its now January 2012 and I can not find any updates on the range. I was hoping that someone might be able to post an update on how everything is going.

What’s the latest update on the progress of the shooting range? According to the last update back in Sept 2011, the projected date for being open to the public was Feb 2012. Is this still an obtainable goal? Also, what is the latest for fees, whether they be daily or annual.
Thanks,
Vincent Keith
